The Mysteries of the Kingdom

Matthew 13: 24 – 50.

The Mysteries of the Kingdom are those mysteries previously only known to the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit which are now being revealed by the incarnate Son – Jesus.

The Kingdom is now taking root but is not yet fully formed.

Examples of how the Kingdom was preached after Christ’s ascension are in Acts.

In Acts 8:12 Philip preached the ‘Kingdom’ and people were saved and baptized. Was his preaching about the ‘kingdom’ evangelism?

In Acts 19: 8 Paul spoke out “boldly….about the kingdom of God” to the Jews. Do you think Paul was trying to evangelize them?

In Acts 28: 23 Paul was “testifying about the kingdom…and was trying to persuade them concerning Jesus...” What do you think that Paul meant was the difference between “the kingdom of God” and things “concerning Jesus”?

And in Acts 28:30 we have a similar scenario with Paul “preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ…” What did Paul mean by “and”?

The Mystery of the Soils in verses 18 – 23

The kingdom is here- Now- but not with irresistible force; mankind can receive it, reject it or renege on it.

Mystery of the Weeds in verses 24 – 30

The kingdom is here but not ultimately (Daniel 2:44 – 45) It overlaps this present age.

Mystery of the Mustard Seed in verses 31 – 32

The Kingdom has come but not in a way that is expected (Daniel 7:13) It comes quietly, tiny, unobtrusively, secretively.

Mystery of the Leven in verse 33

The Kingdom permeates so quietly it can be ignored by the world!

Mystery of the Treasure in the field and Pearl in verses 44 – 46

The Kingdom is a gracious gift but costly.

Mystery of the Dragnet in verses 47 – 50

The Kingdom is here – Now – but not in its fullest expression…however, men’s relationship to it determines their final judgment.

Jesus cannot be your savior unless He’s your Lord!
