Todays sermon was "When Man Gets a Vote"

1. He tends to vote his ideals, not God's will

1 Sam 8:7, 19-22

Nov 4 most people will vote for the candidate that helps them live the American dream, but our citizenship is not of this realm.

2. His own autonomy replaces God as the full and final authority of his life.

1 Sam 8, 9:20 Our king (Saul) will fight our battles and judge us.

3. The more he votes for his own preservation the more enslaved he becomes.

Is 22:7-9, 12-13 contrast with 1 Sam 7

4. He becomes a resevoir, not a river

Lu 6:24 Woe to the rich

One candidate says what is yours is yours to do with as you please (is it really?)

The other says we need to spread the wealth around (The church is suppose to do this)

1 Pet 4, 1 Sam 2:19 (the 'new' 2 Chr 7:14)
